The spinoff series Better Call Saul has tied into Breaking Bad more closely than ever with its final handful of episodes. After six seasons, the special appearances of Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul reprising their respective roles as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman finally happened. Better Call Saul revealed a new perspective on the day the duo met Bob Odenkirk‘s Saul Goodman, bringing all three back together to show what happened immediately before and after their desert confrontation.

It was an incredible experience for Odenkirk, who addressed reuniting with his old Breaking Bad co-stars for the Better Call Saul scene. Speaking about the situation with Access, Odenkirk described how it felt to be back with Cranston and Paul, first noting how happy the two were to come on board and mentioning how much fun it was to do their big scene together.

It could be that the Better Call Saul team had been waiting to save the cameos from the main stars of Breaking Bad for the very end as a way of helping the spinoff go out with a bigger bang. Bob Odenkirk previously teased that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul would both be back for multiple scenes with Saul Goodman, so this would suggest that Walter White will return one last time in the series finale. Odenkirk also now tells Access that he’s really happy with the ending but feels sad about the fun ride coming to its close.

The series finale of Better Call Saul arrives on Aug. 15 on AMC and AMC+.
