The latest name to come up as a possible replacement for Amber Heard in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is Evil Dead star and B-movie legend Bruce Campbell. Amid her legal battles with Johnny Depp, there have been many filmgoers demanding that Heard be removed from the upcoming DC sequel. A popular petition for her firing as surpassed four million signatures while fans have been suggesting alternatives, including Emilia Clarke, Blake Lively, and even Depp’s attorney Camille Vasquez.

and managed to get a response from the groovy one. Campbell kept it light by jokingly stating, “Send me a script.”

Campbell’s response went viral and has amassed more than 228,000 likes as of this writing. While this is obviously not meant to be taken seriously, some fans have been going a bit further with actually imagining Campbell in the role of Mera. At least one person inserted the actor’s face onto Mera’s body with a face-swapping app just to get a better idea of what this might look like.

In all seriousness, there has not been any serious discussion at this time of Amber Heard getting dropped from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. It was revealed that her role had been greatly reduced compared to the original screenplay, but producer Walter Hamada said in court that this had nothing to do with her legal battle with Johnny Depp, and was because of a lack of chemistry with Jason Momoa. If Hamada already testified that the Depp vs. Heard situation isn’t affecting Aquaman 2, it seems very unlikely the role will be replaced at this point.

That doesn’t mean fans can’t see Campbell on screen. He reunited with his old pal Sam Raimi to appear in the new hit film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Campbell also recently appeared in the holiday horror film Black Friday and starred in the television film One December Night. Recently, he teased that he had something “strange” in the works, leading to speculation that he could be filming a new season of Ripley’s Believe It or Not!.

Campell also revisited the Evil Dead franchise with the recent release of Evil Dead: The Game. The video game incorporates characters from throughout the Evil Dead franchise and features Campbell’s voice and likeness as his popular Ash Williams character. He is also serving as a producer on the upcoming Evil Dead movie, Evil Dead Rise, though he is not expected to physically appear as Ash in the movie.
