Daredevil and Kingpin MCU

Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have officially joined the cast of the Disney+ series Echo. It’s unclear in what capacity the pair will be involved in the show or if they’ll even share scenes together, but per The Hollywood Reporter, both Cox and D’Onofrio will have pivotal roles in Echo. Marvel declined to comment on the news.

Echo is currently filming in Atlanta and features Hawkeye breakout star Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez/Echo, a deaf Native American superhero with the ability to mimic her opponent’s fighting style. She was raised by Wilson Fisk/Kingpin as his daughter after her father’s demise, but the Hawkeye finale served up a shocking twist that left Fisk’s fate hanging in the balance. But Marvel was not just going to waste a phenomenal actor like Vincent D’Onofrio, and he too has been teasing his comeback for months. As for Charlie Cox, he made his MCU debut with a scene-stealing appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home

and will return in the Daredevil reboot/continuation happening at Disney+.

Fans have been clamoring for another showdown between The Man Without Fear and his archnemesis, Kingpin, and it appears that it will happen sooner than expected. And if reports are to be believed, Daredevil and Kingpin won’t be the only characters to be re-introduced in the MCU. Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones is rumored to be involved in Echo as well, with Matt Murdock searching for her. However, take that with a grain of salt, seeing as it sounds too good to be true, although Marvel keeps offering major surprises with every new show or movie.

Echo was announced even before the premiere of Hawkeye, and while it’s unfortunate Clint Barton and Kate Bishop won’t be returning for a season 2, Echo is turning out to be quite exciting. Hawkeye was Alaqua Cox’s first acting role, and the 25-year-old actress left everyone impressed with her portrayal of Maya Lopez. She is grateful for the opportunity and hopes to be a great role model for the Deaf community and Native Americans.

It’s unknown how Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk will fit into the story of Echo, but we could be looking at a mentor-student relationship between Murdock and Lopez, eventually leading to a showdown with the very much alive Kingpin. Echo will also set the stage for the much-anticipated Daredevil revival on Disney+. The official plot synopsis for Echo reads:

Echo is created by Marion Dayre (Better Call Saul), with Sydney Freeland (Reservation Dogs) and Catriona McKenzie (Satellite Boy) serving as directors. Zahn McClarnon, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning, and Graham Greene also star in the show.
