Gujarat Titans are coming into this game after a massive win against the other new entrant 2nd placed Lucknow Super Giants. The Chennai Super Kings lost to the bottom-placed Mumbai Indians in their last game and with the loss have ended all their hopes of making it to the playoffs.

The Gujarat Titans have been the team to beat and won most of their games by big margins. They are through to the next playoffs round and have already won 9 out of 12 games it has played most of their key players in good form. CSK has struggled since the start of the season and must play for pride from hereon. It will be interesting to see if they can surprise everyone to win this game against a tough opponent.

MS Dhoni’s side Chennai Super Kings made headlines for the wrong runs in the last few days with Ravindra Jadeja’s injury and the controversy surrounding it. This affected the side in the last game against the Mumbai Indians where they lost by 5 wickets after being bowled out for only 97 runs. They can’t make it to the playoffs from here and MS Dhoni would like to restore lost pride by winning this game.

Openers Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad had a poor outing against Mumbai and these two players would be key to CSK’s success. They had done well in the last few games. Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, and Robin Uthappa must bring their experience to play in the middle order. With MS Dhoni, Shivam Dube, and Dwayne Bravo to follow there is good firepower in this batting line-up.

Pacer Mukesh Choudhary has earned lots of praises and he will have to deliver early breakthroughs along with Simarjeet Singh with the new ball. Dwayne Bravo has been one of the best bowlers for Chennai Super Kings in the tournament and there would be huge hopes from him. The side would also like to see good bowling from Maheesh Theekshana and Moeen Ali in this game as this attack lacks depth.

Hardik Pandya’s side is enjoying a wonderful run in the tournament. They have become the first team to book a berth in the next playoffs round after their comfortable 62-run win against the 2nd placed newcomers Lucknow Super Giants. Their batsmen and bowlers have done well in the tournament. Hardik Pandya would be aiming to build momentum here and take confidence from their win against the Chennai Super Kings earlier in the season.

Opener Shubman Gill has enjoyed a good run in the tournament and makes a formidable opening pair with Wriddhiman Saha. Hardik Pandya has played well, and he would aim to build a partnership with Matthew Wade in the middle order. It is the lower middle order that has made the difference for the side, and they would look for runs from the trio of David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, and Rashid Khan as all of them have looked in good touch.

Pacer Mohammad Shami bowled brilliantly in the last game and the side would like to see a good show from him sharing the new ball with Hardik Pandya. Rashid Khan has been a thorn for the opponents, and he adds to the side’s bowling strengths with Alzarri Joseph. The side would also expect to see tight spells from Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore and Yash Dayal in this game.

A monumental knock from David Miller (94*) supported brilliantly by Rashid Khan’s quickfire 40 got Gujarat Titans across the line in a thrilling last-over finish. Chasing 170 to win, Gujarat Titans lost three wickets inside the powerplay and CSK bowlers were at the top of their game.

Earlier, CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad returned to form by scoring 73 off 48 balls and was supported by Ambati Rayudu (46 off 31) and a late cameo by Ravindra Jadeja (22* off 12). Alzarri Joseph was Gujarat’s best bowler with figures of 2/34.

In reply, Gujarat was reduced to 48/4 and then to 87/5 but CSK bowlers led by Dwayne Bravo (3/23) had no answer to David Millers’ onslaught as the Protea batsman remained unbeaten on 94 from 51 balls, an innings studded with 8 fours and 6 sixes (strike rate of 184.31).
