CSK vs KKR: Watch – Ambati Rayudu Gets A Life After Ball Brushes The Stumps But Doesn’t Dislodge The Bails

Ambati Rayudu Gets Lucky

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu survived a close call during the opening match of the IPL 2022 season against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Rayudu was facing Varun Chakravarthy in the final over of the powerplay when the incident happened. To a full ball on the off stump, Rayudu attempted a mighty heave but was beaten by the pace of the delivery.

He managed an inside edge that brushed the stumps on the way to the boundary. The bails didn’t get dislodged as Chakravarthy stared on, wondering how he didn’t get his first wicket on the night. Ultra Edge also confirmed the same.

However, he failed to make the most of his chance, albeit it wasn’t his fault. Rayudu fell after making a 17-ball 15 when he was run out by Shreyas Iyer due to a miscommunication with the newly-appointed CSK skipper, Ravindra Jadeja.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni played some vintage stroke on the way to his first IPL fifty in nearly three years. Although Jadeja struggled to middle the ball, Dhoni took his time before launching a stunning assault in the final three overs.

On the back of his fifty, CSK put up a fighting total of 131 on the board. Robin Uthappa and Jadeja contributed with handy cameos. Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for KKR as he took 2/20 in four overs.
