Ravindra Jadeja Ruled Out Of IPL 2022

Former England captain Michael Vaughan reckoned Ravindra Jadeja might have played his last season for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

The CSK all-rounder was ruled out of the ongoing IPL 2022 after suffering a rib injury during their match against Delhi Capitals on May 8.

Ravindra Jadeja reported a bruised rib and was unavailable for Chennai Super Kings’ game against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. He was under observation and based on medical advice he has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL season,” CSK issued a statement on Wednesday night (May 11).

Is everything ok between Ravindra Jadeja and CSK?

Just two days ahead of the IPL 2022, Jadeja was named the new captain of the four-time IPL champions, taking over the captaincy reins from MS Dhoni.

However, in hindsight, the move didn’t work either for the franchise or the player. CSK won just two of the eight matches in IPL 2022 and Jadeja’s individual performance also dried up.

Jadeja scored 116 runs in 10 innings at 19.33 and returned five wickets with the ball at an economy rate of 7.52. The queer thing was Jadeja dropped a few catches in the tournament as well.

Dhoni was reinstated as CSK captain on April 3, a day ahead of their clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

On Wednesday, CSK’s Instagram handle reportedly unfollowed Jadeja, sparking speculation about rifts between the player and the franchise.

It might be coming to, maybe, the end of Jadeja at Chennai: Michael Vaughan

Vaughan believes that Jadeja’s stint with the four-time title winners will end this year, something that will benefit both parties.

“There has to be a question mark over his position in CSK going forward. If it is that Jadeja has had a bit of a fallout because of the captaincy or whether he is injured, we have to wait and see what that is.

“It might be coming to, maybe, the end of Jadeja at Chennai. Things come to an end sometimes, and a change can be good for both the franchise and the players,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.

“I don’t know what his injury is. I don’t know how much he has been affected by the captaincy. I am also not sure how much he has been affected by bubble life. You’ve got to remember these players are in bubbles and it’s just driving some players mad. They just can’t cope with it,” he added.

Jadeja joined CSK in 2012 and has played 156 matches for the Yellow Army in nine seasons. The Saurashtra player is the third-most capped player for CSK after Suresh Raina (200) and MS Dhoni (225).

In the IPL 2022 players retention list, Jadeja was retained by CSK as their first-choice player with Dhoni in the second spot.
