Chasing 150 on a two-paced surface, Lucknow was ahead in the run chase courtesy of Quinton de Kock‘s measured 80-run knock in 52 balls. His knock included 9 fours and 2 maximums and was crucial to set the tempo.

After his dismissal, the other batters struggled and barely anybody could maintain a strike rate over 100. However, the target was never going to be enough and Krunal Pandya ensured that they get over the line in the final over.

Anrich Nortje had a terrible game on his return from injury, bowling only 2.2 overs before he was barred from bowling after delivering two dangerous beamers – one each to de Kock and Deepak Hooda.

Earlier, DC opener Prithvi Shaw hogged the limelight during David Warner’s return to his first franchise. He scored 61 out of the 67 runs at the beginning before being dismissed by Krishnappa Gowtham.

Warner struggled his way to a 12-ball 4. Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan stitched an unbeaten 75-run partnership to push the total to 149/3. Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers once again as he ended with figures of 2/22 in four overs.

With the win over DC, Lucknow now moves to second place on the points table with 3 wins in four matches, similar to that of the table-toppers, Kolkata Knight Riders.
