Mahela Jayawardene, the head coach of the Mumbai Indians, believes Tim David has adjusted well to his new role. When he was chosen to replace Kieron Pollard, Jayawardene thinks the Singapore-born youngster has made improvements and demonstrated his talent.

Tim David has provided the Mumbai Indians with much-needed huge hits in clutch situations in the last few games. Pollard, on the other hand, was replaced by a right-handed hitter after scoring only 144 runs in 11 games at 14.40 and striking out at 107.46.

“We knew he had a lot of skill when we bought him at the auction because of what he had done in the track in the previous 12 months. For us, it would be about his personality and how he would manage the IPL because it is a tougher league than what he has previously played in, and how he would adjust.

“Initially, he found the climate to be challenging, which is likely why he did not play the entire campaign. He has, nonetheless, demonstrated his ability,” Mahela Jayawardene Added.

Pollard’s troubles were acknowledged by Mahela Jayawardene. He does believe, though, that the all-rounder has been the team’s backbone.

“Polly has undoubtedly been an important component of our team in Mumbai for a long period. He’s achieved it, and he’s been wonderful. He’s struggled at times, but it’s a chance for us to move forward. It gives us various possibilities for how to build up the team against various opponents.”

“After the campaign, we’ll sit down and consider all of those alternatives, but with the ability in the squad, we must be completely honest.”

The Mumbai Indians have won only three of their 13 games and are out of competition for the playoffs. On Saturday, they play the Delhi Capitals in their final league encounter.
