Taika Waititi is one of the select directors who have returned to the MCU to direct more than one movie. However, when it comes to whether he would return after Thor: Love and Thunder to complete a trilogy of movies, he has not really given much thought to it. Naturally, there is always a question over how the Marvel Cinematic Universe will evolve in the future, and even before Thor’s fourth movie has been released, some fans are already asking whether there will be a Thor 5 in the next few years. Thor: Love and Thunder brings back Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder, who is joined by plenty of familiar faces, including Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, Chris Pratt’s Starlord, and the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who will this time around be transformed into The Mighty Thor. In addition to this, we also have Russell Crowe taking on the role of Zeus and Christian Bale as the fearsome villain, Gorr the God Butcher.

While there have been a number of styles brought into the MCU recently, Thor: Love and Thunder will be a classic Marvel combination of well-loved characters, comedy, action and more than a few surprises and cameo appearances. The movie’s synopsis reads:

Thor: Love and Thunder has a big task ahead of it this summer, with Top Gun: Maverick having overtaken Doctor Stranger in the Multiverse of Madness to be the biggest domestic movie of the year, it is now up to Hemsworth and Co to reclaim the Marvel crown from Tom Cruise’s nostalgic blockbuster. Advance tickets went on sale earlier this week, so it won’t be too long before we know roughly how well Thor’s opening weekend is going to look, and that could give a big indicator as to what can be expected of the movie’s long-term performance. Thor: Love and Thunder releases on July 8.
