It’s all scorched earth, shock and awe, and blood and bone in the teaser trailer for The Boys Season 3 finale. Released courtesy of the official Twitter account for The Boys, the footage teases every violent vendetta finally colliding, as a bloodied Billy Butcher faces down an unstable-looking Homelander.

Based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys takes place in a universe where super-powered individuals are recognized as heroes by the public and owned by the powerful corporation Vought International. Outside their heroic personas, most of these so-called “heroes” are arrogant and corrupt, with the series focussing on the titular Boys, a group of vigilantes looking to keep the corrupted superheroes under control.

The Boys Season 3 finds Billy Butcher in a surprising position – calm and on the straight and narrow. In fact, it’s been a year of calm. Homelander has been subdued. And Butcher is now working for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So, when The Boys learn of a mysterious anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into The Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first superhero: Soldier Boy.

While we patiently await the finale of The Boys Season 3, the hugely popular comic book series has already been renewed for a fourth outing. In fact, not only has it been renewed, but season 4 is already gearing up to begin filming, with star Karl Urban recently revealing that The Boys will once again go before cameras from next month.

Practically nothing is yet known about what The Boys Season 4 will involve (though audiences should expect more violence, jokes, and foul mouths) but showrunner Eric Kripke has revealed which actor he would like to add to proceedings. Hoping to reunite Solider Boy actor Jensen Ackles with his Supernatural co-star Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kripke said, “Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a superfan of the show, so he and I are talking. We’re trying to figure out something for season four. Nothing finalized yet, but he and I are chatting and e-mailing and seeing it we can make it work with his busy schedule. So, stay tuned on that.”

Starring Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, and Karen Fukuhara as the titular vigilantes and Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher, and Nathan Mitchell as the main line-up of supes, The Boys season 3, episode 8 will be released on Friday, July 8 on Amazon Prime Video.
