Domestic Career

Naveen-ul-Haq is a young afghan cricketer who is known for his excellent skills with the ball in the death overs. Interestingly Naveen had made his major domestic debut after representing Afghanistan in international cricket.

The 21-year-old made his first-class debut in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4 day tournament representing Kabul on March 7, 2018. He has so far played 10 first-class games and has 31 wickets under his name.

Afghanistan Premier League (APL) is a major domestic T20 tournament in the country. Naveen made his appearance for Nabgarhar in 2018 and has since then only improved with the ball in hand.

After his impressive show, Haq was also part of the 2019-20 Bangladesh Premier League. He then also represented Kandy Tuskers in the first edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL).

2021 was his breakthrough year as he was part of the T20 Blast (a popular T20 tournament in England). He was part of the Leicestershire Foxes and had an impressive first season and was also the highest wicket-taker in that tournament.

International Career

ODI Career:

After his impressive stint in age-group cricket and club cricket, Naveen was quickly drafted into the national team. The major reason for his selection was also his performance in the 2016 U19 World Cup. He made his ODI debut on 25th September 2016.

Haq ended with figures of 62/1 in his 10 overs on his debut. As he was very young he also represented Afghanistan again in the U19 circuit in the 2016 U19 Asia Cup. Haq has so far played 7 ODI games and has picked up 14 wickets.

T20I Career:

Naveen-ul-Haq officially made his T20I debut for Afghanistan against Bangladesh on September 21, 2019. He had a very good outing on his debut and ended his spell of 4 overs with the figures of 2/20.

His brilliant performances with the ball in the death made him a very handy bowler and also caught the eyeballs of many teams in franchise cricket. The right-arm quick has played 8 games so far in the shortest format and has 13 wickets to his name as of August 2021.

Amidst all the chaos going on in Afghanistan, Cricket is expected to go on as usual. Naveen-ul-Haq is set to feature for the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the 2021 season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Haq was also part of the Caribbean Premier League in 2020 as well for Guyana and has played 10 games and has 11 wickets under his name so far.

He is coming into the 2021 season with a brilliant form in T20 Blast and it will be interesting to watch how he goes about with his bowling in the CPL.
