The most anticipated film Varisu directed by Vamshi Paidipally made it to the big screens on January 11. The family entertainer stars Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles. According to the reports, Varisu has been leaked online on several websites including 1TamilMV, Tamilplay, Tamilrockers, and Tamilblasters. They also did a great deal of damage by sharing the movie links through their Telegram channels. Like adding fuel to the fire, several piracy websites made Varisu movie available for download. Some of the piracy websites are Moviesda, Movierulz, Kuttymovies, Filmywap, and more. The Telugu version of Varisu is titled Vaarasudu which also became a victim of the popular piracy website iBomma.
Vijay fans and the makers of the film are angry after the film leaked online. According to the reports, someone from the early morning show recorded the whole movie and uploaded it on the internet. The filmmakers didn’t make any official statement regarding the pirated copy. As a matter of fact, the pirated copy might affect the first-day collection at the box office.

After a long gap, Vijay did in a wholesome family drama with stellar casts like Sarathkumar, Kushboo, Prabhu, Shaam, Srikanth, Samyukatha Shan, Sangeetha, and Prakash Raj. His performances in the film kept the viewers engaged. Even though the printed copy was rounding on the internet, the film still managed to fulfill the expectations at the box office. Fans, critics, and audiences gave mixed reviews for the film.
The song Ranjithame, composed by SS Thaman and sung by Vijay became an instant chartbuster. As of January 11, the song received 131M views on YouTube.
